LECLAIRRYAN PARTNERS TO PARTICIPATE IN FEDERAL BAR ASSOCIATION

PANEL DISCUSSION ON SUBPRIME MORTGAGE CRISIS

 

 

NEW YORK – (7/1/08) – LeClairRyan partners Andrew J. Frisch and Thomas J. McGonigle  will be part of a blue ribbon panel discussion this month focusing on liability for mortgage-based securities fraud.

 

The two-hour seminar, “The Subprime Mortgage Crisis: Were Investors Defrauded or Did They Assume an Obvious Market Risk?,” is being presented by The Federal Bar Association’s Eastern District of New York Chapter.  The program will be held on Wednesday, July 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the United States Courthouse, 225 Cadman Plaza East in downtown Brooklyn. Admission is free of charge and open to all. Pending expected approval, CLE credit will be available.

 

Frisch, who will serve as moderator, and McGonigle will be joined on the panel by The Honorable John Gleeson, United States District Judge, Eastern District of New York; Benton J. Campbell, United States Attorney, Eastern District of New York; Eric O. Corngold, New York State Executive Deputy Attorney General for Economic Justice; Ellen L. Shapiro, managing partner, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC; and Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Perez. Cynthia M. Monaco, a partner at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, is program chair. 

 

Frisch has over 20 years experience practicing criminal law in New York City’s federal and state courts.  He currently leads LeClairRyan’s white-collar criminal defense practice. Prior to joining the firm’s Manhattan office in 2006, he was a federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York.

 

McGonigle, a shareholder in LeClairRyan’s Financial Services Group, formerly served as a Branch Chief of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Enforcement Division. Since joining LeClairRyan’s Washington, D.C. office in 2001, McGonigle has focused his practice on securities and investment regulation.
